We tell ourselves stories in order to live…
As we take a closer look at Joan Didion for her moral courage and her incredible talent as a journalist and writer, may we honor her well and channel her deeply. We were reminded of her brilliance once again in the last few years as she was cast in Celine’s advertising campaign, a bold and legendary move by arguably the most important fashion brand of this age, striking out against the typical brand ambassadors with beautiful hair and cheekbones to encompasses the character and strength of a talented woman, seeped in years and wisdom. She is the subject of a documentary in the works by her nephew, Griffin Dunne.
“We Tell Ourselves Stories In Order to Live will trace the arc of Joan’s life through her own writings, and in her own voice. Our film will tell Joan’s story through passages she has chosen (and will read aloud) from her work, as her friends, family, colleagues and critics share their accounts of her remarkable life and writing. Patti Smith, Vanessa Redgrave, Allison Janney, Graydon Carter, Robert Silvers, and Bret Easton Ellis are just a few of the people we’ll interview.”
We wait with bated breath.
