Marc Chagall was a Russian born Jew, who lived most of his life away from home. Surviving through the Holocaust, he was known to express his longings and losses through his paintings and masterpieces. One can only imagine the inspiration he took from the Festival of Lights, being reminded of the triumph and the survival of the Jewish people.
